hello everyone..

Seems like a long while since i sat down and did one of these! Feels like we've been here, there and everywhere, back and forth to the States, Europe and even a little trip to Oz since the last one..

But we've got an exciting week coming up so i thought i'd let you know where we're at.

As you've probably heard the Burgh Island Ep's going to be coming out tomorrow. It's a collection of songs from over the Winter and Spring and was recorded down in Devon over four days. It's a pretty hard listen at some points but a huge relief to get some more songs down and out of my head. Onto permanent paper. Burgh Island and the surrounding area have been a huge part in my childhood so the EP's just a grateful note to it really. We've decided just to put it out on limited edition vinyl and as Mp3 downloads on Itunes. Any record i like nowadays i seem to buy on vinyl, the quality's better and it seems to be the only format that requires attention and affection. Along the way music's become a lot more disposable and too easily bought and sold, vinyl in some small way has brought that care factor back for me. But then the EP's on Mp3 as well so i've contradicted my initial motives anyway. It's like the book vs kindle dilemma and i've always preferred the real format, can't beat a travel sized hardback! Yes Grandad.

Tomorrow we're also off to soundcheck at the Mercury Awards.. probably the craziest revelation for us this year.. i don't think any of us expected to be thrust into the limelight so late in the day. Should be fun though, Michael Kiwanuka's in the running, so is the lovely Lianne LaHavas and so too The Maccabees. There'll be plenty of drinking and i might even put on a smart shirt!

If that wasn't enough we're starting our biggest tour yet on Friday so we'll be seeing some of you very soon indeed.
